EAA stands for essential amino acids — the nine the body does not make itself and which must come from food. The powder contains all nine, unlike BCAA which contains three of them. THE FORMATS. Flavoured powder in tubs of 250–500 grams is the most common. Unflavoured powder exists for anyone mixing it into something else, and it is distinctly bitter. Capsules are available but expensive per gram. AMOUNT PER SERVING. Ranges sit between 5 and 15 grams of EAA per scoop, and the scoop weighs more than that because flavouring and acid are included. Compare grams of amino acids, not grams of powder. HOW TO CHOOSE. If you specifically want leucine, BCAA is cheaper per gram. If you want the full spread, EAA is what provides it.
