Glycinate is a chelate, meaning magnesium bound to an amino acid rather than to an inorganic salt. It is the form most often chosen by people who find citrate too tart. ELEMENTAL CONTENT. Glycinate carries around 14 per cent magnesium by weight, which is lower than oxide. That means larger tablets, or more of them per serving, for the same amount of magnesium.
