Glycinate is a chelate, meaning magnesium bound to an amino acid rather than to an inorganic salt. It is the form most often chosen by people who find citrate too tart. ELEMENTAL CONTENT. Glycinate carries around 14 per cent magnesium by weight, which is lower than oxide. That means larger tablets, or more of them per serving, for the same amount of magnesium. The figure is in the nutrition table. TABLET SIZE. For that reason glycinate tablets are often large, and several ranges state two to four tablets per serving. Count servings per tub. BLENDED OR PURE. Some products mix glycinate with oxide to keep the tablet small while keeping a high number on the front. The ingredient list gives it away: if both bisglycinate and oxide are listed, it is a blend. DOSAGE is stated on the pack and should be followed. THE BRANDS. Doctor's Best carries the longest-established range, NOW Foods and Swanson the pure versions, Skill Nutrition the best value.
