Nut creams are sold in jars from 300 grams to a kilo, and the difference between them is in the ingredient list rather than on the front. PLAIN OR SWEETENED. Hundred-per-cent creams contain only milled nuts, sometimes with a pinch of salt. Sweetened versions contain sugar or sweeteners, and several add palm oil for texture. The ingredient list settles it. CRUNCHY OR SMOOTH. Both exist in most ranges. The difference is the grind, nothing else. OIL SEPARATION. Plain creams without added fat separate in the jar and need stirring. This is normal and is usually stated on the label. THE NUT. Peanut is the cheapest per kilo, almond and hazelnut dearer. Blends with chocolate or protein appear in several ranges.
