Alpha lipoic acid is sold in two forms, and the difference shows in both the ingredient list and the price. RACEMIC ALA is an equal mixture of the R and S forms. It is the most common and the cheapest, and what products without further specification contain. R-ALA is the R form alone. It costs more per milligram and is always stated explicitly on the pack, often as "R-Alpha Lipoic Acid" or under a trade name for stabilised versions. DOSES typically sit between 100 and 600 mg per capsule. The figure is on the front. STABILITY. R-ALA is more sensitive and is therefore often sold in stabilised form, for example as a sodium salt. That is in the ingredient list. DOSAGE is stated on the pack and should be followed. THE BRANDS.
